In Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” the hero discovers his uncle has killed his father and married his mother. By the end of the play, the stage is littered with bodies.

In “The Drawer Boy,” a modern-day tragedy at Actors’ Theatre, a man loses his memory and his love and is lied to by the one person he trusts. But in the end, the only thing littering the stage is some very well-washed gravel.
