An Exploration of Contemporary Plays and Playwrights
Actors’ Theatre founder, Fred Sebulske, takes you on an insightful exploration of plays and playwrights that define and redefine contemporary theatre. This 3-hour workshop expand your knowledge and broaden you appreciation of the unique voices in the late 20th and early 21st century.
This workshop gives participants an opportunity to explore important works by contemporary plays and playwrights, many of whom have appeared on Actors’ stages. Themes and subjects include:
- Key playwrights in contemporary theatre
- Important works, movements, and milestones in contemporary theatre
- Script selection and analysis

About the Instructor

Fred Sebulske
For over 30 years, Fred Sebulske has played an important role in bringing contemporary theatre to Grand Rapids. Among his many awards and accolades, he is the recipient of 9 Grand Awards for direction of a play or musical, the Norma Brink Lifetime Achievement Award and the Arts Council Arts Award.
Fred served as chair of the Grand Rapids Community College theater program until his retirement in 2003. He is active in retirement as a Artistic Consultant for Actors’ Theatre and frequently travels in the U.S. and Canada to explore new works for the stage. Fred is the founder of Actors’ Theatre Grand Rapids.
