Coming Soon: “8”

“8” by Dustin Lance Black,8theplay
A staged reading directed by Fred Sebulske

Join us for two special evenings in February in Grand Rapids on February 23rd at Wealthy Theatre and on February 24th at Holland ParkTheatre – as Actors’ Theatre and Fubble Entertainment present a staged reading of Dustin Lance Black’s play “8”.   “8” is an evocative and thought-provoking docu-drama, which tells the story of the historical case to overturn California’s Proposition 8, which stripped California same-sex couples of the right to marry.

Black, who penned the Academy Award-winning feature film “Milk” and the film “J. Edgar”, based “8” on the actual words of the trial transcripts, first-hand observations of the courtroom drama and interviews with the plaintiffs and their families.

“8” is an unprecedented account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed with the intent of overturning Proposition 8. “8” will be presented for one night each in Grand Rapids and Holland and will feature performances by:

Alice Kennedy
Shelley Irwin
Jon March

Jonathan Clausen
Larry Young
Patrick Ziegler
Teresa Thome
Tracey Walker
Sheila Shotwell

+ more!
