SouthSide Theater Company Presents: INTO THE WOODS

SouthSide Theater Company is proud to present Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s INTO THE WOODS.

Into the Woods” is the story of a Baker and his Wife who learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, so they embark on a quest to break the spell by swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red Ridinghood, Rapunzel, and Jack (of Beanstalk fame). Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results. Thus, what begins a lively irreverent fantasy becomes a moving lesson about community, responsibility, and the stories we tell our children. Into the Woods won several Tony Awards, including Best Score, Best Book, and Best Actress in a Musical (Joanna Gleason). Director Andrew Williams will bring a new interpretation to the show, scaling it down to a 12 person cast in a re-imagined production forcing the audience to use their imagination and see things through the eyes of a child.
