Auditions for “Water by the Spoonful” this Weekend!

Auditions for Water by the Spoonful by Quiara Alegra Hudes, will be Saturday & Sunday November 22nd and 23rd from Noon – 3pm both days. Individuals auditioning need to register by 1pm to audition.

Director, Michelle Urbane, is excited about the opportunity for a diverse cast for this production: Hispanic/Latino, Asian American, African American, and Caucasian

Casting:
3 Men ages 21-40,
1 African American man age 30-50,
3 Females age 28-40.
*multi-ethnic casting desired – Hispanic/Latino, Asian American, African American, and Caucasian

Show Run Dates: January 29-31 & February 5-7, 2015

Rehearsals Begin: December 1st, 2015 (* There is a period fromDecember 22ndJanuary 4th that there will be no rehearsals.)

Synopsis:
Elliot, an Iraq war veteran, joins an internet chatroom in an effort to deal with the after-effects of war. An intimate portrait of both a family and the members of an online recovery community is unlocked as they struggle with the harrowing consequences of addiction. Covering the distance between the virtual world to the physical, Water by the Spoonful ties together the lives of a host of unforgettable characters in a play of genuine warmth about forgiveness and redemption.

Audition Notice: “Blythe Spirit”

From Heritage Theatre Group:

We are pleased to announce that our next production will be the classic comedy Blithe Spirit, by Nöel Coward, in which a famous author participates in a seance as part of research for a new book, and finds his new marriage haunted – quite literally – by the ghost of his late first wife.

The show will be performed at GRCC’s Spectrum Theatre in downtown Grand Rapids from July 17th to August 2nd. (Early bird tickets available.)

Walt Riegler directs.

Auditions will be held on Saturday May 31 (1 – 5 pm) and Sunday June 1 (2 – 3:30 pm) at St. John’s UCC (1934 Bridge St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504) to fill the following roles:

EDITH – a maid
RUTH – Charles’ current wife
CHARLES – husband to Ruth and, before her passing, to Elvira
DR. BRADMAN
MRS. BRADMAN
MADAME ARCATI – a medium
ELVIRA – Charles’ late wife

Callbacks will be held Sunday June 1 (5 – 6 pm).

“Blithe Spirit” is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.

Pigeon Creek Presents “Midsummer Night’s Dream” April 17-27 + Audition Notice

DSCN2862The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company brings Shakespeare’s comedy of magic and confused love to Dog Story, April 17-20 and 24-27. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 3pm.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream features four Athenian lovers and a band of amateur actors who get more than they bargained for when they venture into the woods outside of Athens.  When these human characters encounter a group of mischievous fairies and feel the effects of fairy magic, hilarity ensues.  The cast of this production features Steven Anderson, Kathleen Bode, Antonio Copeland, Kimi Griggs, Amanda Heeren, Janelle Mahlmann, Chad Marriott, Kristin Ripley, Janna Rosenkranz, Sarah Stark, Brad Sytsma, Kate Tubbs, and Kyle Westmaas.

Production dates are April 17/27. Tickets are $14 / $7 student & senior. More information can be found on the Dog Story Theatre website.

 

Audition Notice

The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company is holding auditions for its summer productions of Coriolanus and The Two Gentlemen of Verona on April 22 and 23 at 7 p.m.

Coriolanus will be directed by Dennis Henry.  Dennis holds an MFA in directing from the University at Nebraska Lincoln, and has extensive experience as a Shakespearean actor.  A member of Actors’ Equity, he spent eight years touring with the world-renowned American Shakespeare Center.

The Two Gentlemen of Verona will be Pigeon Creek’s first ever Workshop Production, designed to provide acting experience and training for actors who may not have previously acted in Shakespearean plays.  College students and others who are eager to get training in Shakespearean text, voice, and movement techniques would be ideal candidates to audition for this production.

Audition Times

Auditions start at 12 (noon) and will run no longer than 3pm. Those wanting to audition should arrive no later than 1:30 the day of auditions. If you cannot make it to auditions between Noon and 1:30 or are unable to make auditions completely but are still interested in auditioning, please contact Chris at the Actors’ Theatre Office (616 234-3968) to make arrangements to be seen on a different day or at a different time.

Scripts

Scripts are Available 1 month prior to Auditions and can be checked out with a $10.00 deposit. Contact Chris @ 234-3968 to make arrangements to check out a script (best times are M-F 10am-3pm).
*All Scripts must be returned by and cannot be checked out the week of auditions.
