Open Casting Call for “Free Pie” a Grand Rapids Short Film – Auditions 9/7-8

A group of filmmaking friends are returning after a summer of exploration and feature work to combine forces again through cinema. Brimming with passion and a love for storytelling, this director and dp have worked together on numerous occasions, including several award winning narrative and documentary pieces. You can find a compilation of some of their work here: http://vimeo.com/23662593

A bit about the film:

A tragically dark comedy in which the life of an opulent young man is thrown into turmoil when a mysterious Englishman shows up to divulge increasingly bizarre news about the family.

Free Pie is casting a male lead role, “Christopher” and female speaking role, “Alice”.

“CHRISTOPHER”
Male lead • Age Range 20-28
Made a vast sum of money in his punk band before burning out and losing a large portion of his hearing. Flash forward a couple years: he’s separated from his wife, holed up in his future-esque abode, and straddled with two hearing aids. The sort of man who would invite someone over so he doesn’t drink alone.

“ALICE”
Female speaking role • Age Range 22-30
Strong woman a few years older than Chris. They were close friends before his music career fizzled out, after which they had a child together and married. She separated from him a few months back and looks after their eight-year-old, Isaac, at her apartment. She’s concerned for Chris’ wellbeing, and creates excuses to come back to the house and see him. She has greater capacity to love than she understands.

Auditions will be held locally (for Grand Rapids residents) and via skype (if outside Grand Rapids).
Local: Wednesday, September 7 6pm-8pm
