Living on the Edge Public Reading

Due to the record-breaking number of 10-minute plays we have received this year in the open call for submissions, the Living on the Edge VIII: Secrets and Lies – Public Reading has been postponed from this Saturday until Saturday, April 30th in the Spectrum Theater at GRCC mezzanine. We apologize for any inconvenience but are excited at this year’s level of participation!

Our special thanks to Volunteer Literary Manager Randy Wyatt for his hard work and dedication with a record-breaking number of submissions for Living on the Edge VIII and our general call for submissions of full-length new works.  So far we have received nearly 300 submissions, combined between the two openings!

“Secrets and Lies” Living on the Edge Reading April 2nd!

2011 marks the eighth installment of Actors’ Theatre’s annual 10 minute play festival, Living on the Edge. The theme this year that writers were asked to respond to was “Secrets and Lies.”  March 1st was our deadline for scripts, and the submissions came pouring in! (Our Literary Manager, Randy Wyatt received over 60 scripts!) Now they are being reviewed and 15 will be selected for a public reading on April 2nd, 2011.

The reading will begin at 1PM at Spectrum Theater, 160 Fountain Street. Be sure and check out this wonderful day of live theatre!  Admission is free and you have the opportunity to hear 15 new 10 minute plays being read by local actors.  Not only that, but your feedback is valued! At the public reading playwrights will receive 5 minutes of verbal feedback on their piece. Based on audience response and feedback, the Living on the Edge committee will choose five finalists from the scripts read at the public reading to be presented in full production during July of 2011 in the “black box” performance space (Room 201 – Spectrum Theater Building).

Come be a part of it all on April 2nd!
