Seeing Great Theatre – Even on a Tight Budget

Lots of folks are on a tight budget these days.  Did you know there are ways you can see great theatre here in Grand Rapids for little or no cost?  Check it out, here’s what the insiders know:

Final Dress Rehearsals:  The night before Opening Night is a low cost way to see great theatre.  Most community theaters offer a discount on the night before a show opens.  Tickets to Final Dress at Actors’ Theatre are just $5!  You can head on down to Spectrum Theater and catch the Final Dress of Actors’ production of Ampersand tonight!

Student Discounts: Most theaters, including Actors’, offer discount pricing for students.  If you are in school, make sure to bring your ID when when you come!

Volunteering:  Volunteers are always needed!  See shows from the front as an usher or ticket taker, or catch them behind the scenes as you help out backstage.  For more information about volunteering at Actors’, please see the Volunteer section on our website.

Calling All Volunteers

Actors’ Theatre needs your help!

New to Volunteering?

Are you interested in being a volunteer at Actors’ Theatre?  We need help with everything from greeting patrons as they come to pick up tickets, to bringing snacks to rehearsing actors, to working backstage on productions!  If you would like to be a part of making theatre magic happen, please email Chris Carnevale.  In your email include your name, address, phone and e-mail and in what capacity you would like to volunteer.

Here’s a list of just some of the ways you can help: special event volunteer, lobby greeter, usher, ticket taker, crew, costume shop, scene shop, light board operator, and sound board operator.

You can also visit our website and fill out the information there.  Just go to www.actorstheatregrandrapids.org/volunteer and fill out the form, so we can get you on our list.

Benefits to Volunteering

Volunteers are essential for Actors’ Theatre to continue to bring innovative, thought provoking, challenging and entertaining theatre to West Michigan.  Volunteering is a great way to get a glimpse behind the curtain and learn more about theatre.  Volunteers receive tickets to that evening’s show or discounts or free admission to other events sponsored by Actors’ Theatre.

Volunteered in the Past?

We would also like to recognize all the wonderful volunteers who have helped us in the past!  In order to do this, we need to update our database.  Please email Chris Carnevale with your contact information and let him know in what capacity you helped.  Your help has been appreciated!
